Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park have released some details of their upcoming planning meeting where they will decide the upcoming Lomond Banks planning application, from the owners of Flamingo Land Yorkshire.
The meeting will take place on Monday 16th September 2024 in Lomond Parish Church, commonly know locally as the White Church, off Lomond Road. Space will be limited and it is not yet known whether pre-booking a seat will be required or if it will be first come first serve.
There will however be a live stream of the meeting for anyone unable to attend who wishes to watch/listen in.
Planning Officers at the National Park have not yet made a recommendation, as they are still going through the vast amounts of paperwork, including objections, as they need to properly consider all the information available to them before reaching a professional view on the application.
Once a recommendation has been offered by officers, members of the public who put in a representation will be contacted and asked if they wish to speak to the planning meeting on the day.
Ultimately it will be for the planning committee members to make a final decision.
If the plans are rejected, the developer can appeal to Scottish Ministers.
If the plans are approved, the developer will have what is called ‘in principle’ permission to build on the site, but will have to submit detailed plans to the National Park as a whole new application. Members of the public will again be able to give their views on these detailed plans and a new planning meeting will be called in due course to make a final decision.
I remain firmly opposed to the current plans. You can view my objection to the plans below.
